Developing a Sustainable Work Environment for Substitute Teachers: A Multi-Criteria Job Satisfaction Approach

Retention of provisional substitute teachers (PSTs) in the teaching profession is an important and timely topic that relates to sustainability schools’ work environment profession. The present study re-examines these issues using teacher job satisfaction (TJS) as a surrogate variable. More precisely, MUlti-criteria Satisfaction Analysis (MUSA) -a method combines Multi-Criteria Decision Importance-Performance Analysis- applied data set primary school from Greece assess contribution performance on 5 aspects i.e., opportunities for self-fulfillment, intensity/load, salary/income, leadership collegial relations, overall PSTs JS. findings indicate self-fulfillment relationships contribute most PST JS, whilst salary/income least. results further suggest not only facet value but also strong point environment. provides new strategic perspective TJS research, well evidence-based strategies improving quality life attrition rate levels teachers. Moreover, theoretical practical implications this are presented avenues future research highlighted.
